Trends 2013 Mint Green and Denim on Denim Trends

I saw that mint green would be a big trend somewhere, (I don't remember where). But I really REALLY underestimated how much of a trend it would actually be.

Within a month, in my school you will see 75% of the girls wearing something that has a minty green color. I'm guessing it caught on so fast because it really is a pleasing color. Its a bright good color for summer, and its a color that isn't subjected to one genre of clothing. Its a color that's not overtly feminine, or masculine and...its just a really pretty to look at no matter how you dress.

A lot of the girls I know are wearing the color in jeans and hair bows and shoes like this:

But I also think there are some other really nice ways to wear it, especially in dresses.

I borrowed this shirt from my friend (I'm a mooch, I know....) But I helped her pick it out at the junior section in Nordstroms.

On to denim!

For a long time I've had a very strong aversion to denim (ESPECIALLY denim on denim (aka denim inception)). Honestly, I haven't worn jeans once in the past year.

Ever since I was a kid I've always seen people wear jeans and denim every day and I wondered why. Denim isn't as comfortable as leggings or cloth pants and its no more stylish. Plus I thought that the 'used' denim look that was all the rage a couple years ago was a little bit dumb.

But.... I'm kind of liking this seasons denim. It looks like denim, but it doesn't feel like denim. It's lighter and softer. Maybe together we could redefine denim and erase the damage done by denim trends in the 90's eeagh.

I'm sorry JT and Brittany. You both are lovely, beautiful people. but....just not under layers and layers of denim. eeegagh.

Auuughh! Forget it! The damage is done!

Here's some varieties of the denim trend these days to hopefully help you forget past fashion faux pas.

So there you go! Does it take a little of the sting off? Would any of you try these looks? If so, how would you style them? Any trends that you would like me to cover? Comment beloooooow~~~!

No new photoshoots expected for a while.

Hey guys and girls! Hope your day is going well! I'm just here to tell you that 5 inches of show are expected in the next week here in Alaska. Yes, 5 inches, IN MAY.

Okay snow, I like you but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I need some shorts and T-shirt weather coming my way.
In conclusion I've decided that I don't want to do any photo shoots for a while. Its still really cold out and I want to save up all my money so I can eventually buy a good camera so I can take good quality photos for you all to enjoy. I will still do my trend posts, but for now, one photo shoot is enough.

I'm planning some different kinds of posts that you all might enjoy, but please if you have any trends you'd like me to follow, any advice you would like me to give or any songs you would like me to review, please do comment. Your voice matters here. Plus you'll make my day :D
Have a happy Wednesday!

2013 Fashion Trends: Skulls and batwinged cape sweaters

Fashion this spring is going to be so exciting! Vertical stripe pants and skull patterns? I absolutely love that punk is making a comeback these days! And i'm so glad to see skull pattterns become so casual, versitile and high fashion. Instead of celebrating darkness and gloom, skulls now seem to have a more Cinco de Mayo feel to them.
If you think skulls are just for goths, be prepared to be amazed, they have made it to the mainstream.

I think this trend looks best when its understated as accesories, but I also love colorful skull shirts and blazers.

As for me, I acquired a super cheap skull scarf at Wetseal. You can find this stuff everywhere though, there is TONS of cute skull fashion on Ebay.

Love the lace!!!

Onto batwing sweaters!  Are these the real name for these sweaters? The loose floppy arms remind my of bat wings or perhaps a shawl with arms. I think they're called cape sweaters.  I'm seeing them everywhere now and these sweaters so so unbelievably comfy and just have a lovely air of sophistication at the same time. They are often very light and airy for summer too! Some are buttoned in the front, some are open and some are more like light airy sweater dresses.
They remind me of slightly chilly days strolling around the park, doing yoga on a patio, and having warm tea in a coffee shop. Oh! I'm feeling poetic today!
I have to add that these sweaters were always around but it didn't seem that a lot of young girls wear them up until now. It was mainly grandmas and middle aged ladies. But i'm fine with that! Gramma's be stylin'.

This one is from the Juniors section at Nordstroms, :D I really like the light green tea color. You can't see it in this picture but its about knee length on me.

What trends are you excited for? How to you wear skulls and batwings? Write to me in the comments below!

Skull studs from RiverIsland, Skull blazer from Modcloth, crochet skull from Jcp, red skull from Urban outfitters. Green, first Pink and marbled long sweaters from Nordstoms, brown # 1 from Anna Kastle, red sweater from Sheinside, second brown one from pintrest.

Oncoming trends 2013: Rainbow and Ombre

Mark my words, rainbow will be in soon. I can already feel it.  It can't be just me noticing more and more cute rainbow items being available in clothing stores.
My thoughts?  I’m really excited, I love color! And I think rainbows are underrated and awesome. I’m glad that they are becoming more fashionable instead of only seen on young kids clothing. Plus this trend doesn’t seem to be that expensive.

I got an amazing rainbow sweater from Modcloth as a gift, but then I had to return it because the sleeves were uneven. Oh well. If the sweater ever drifts into my possession again (meaning: if they have an crazy sale, fingers crossed) I'll update with a picture of it!

Here it is. It reminds me of the joys of Reading Rainbow and I just love its retro 70's style. Until then I have this rainbow sweater a long time ago from Forever 21.

And my favorite rainbow scarf first seen in I Love Tacky Sweaters! <3

The second thing I'm seeing is Ombre, Ombre, Ombre. First, it had just started as a hair trend that started with a darker color on the top and become lighter at the ends, Like so~

Subtle and Cute!

But since then Ombre seemed to evolve quickly into different forms. It started to show up on shirts then skirts, sweaters and Ombre hair become more abstract. The look of Ombre reminds me of water color paintings. It's delicate, sweet and easy to pair with different patterns. One of my favorite looks right now is Ombre Pastel hair.

So Cute!!!!! When my hair grows out a little bit I definitely want to try this look
I bought one ombre sweater from my local grocery store, and the label says its from 'Love by Design'

Here are some other Ombre looks that you might like!

There is even DIY ombre for old T-Shirts!!! I definetly can't wait to try that!

Would you wear any of these bold trends? If so, which way is your favorite way to wear Ombre and Rainbow?

The rainbow shoes are from ASOS Rainbow sweater 2 is from from Dehlias,  the rainbow sweater dress from Modcloth, the bleeding rainbow tee from UrbanOutfitters, Ombre hair 1  is from ninas creative couture, Ombre 2 is from Haircolorideas.com the sneakers are from Sneakers Shopbop Ombre pants are from Winsorstore, the Ombre jacket from Forever 21 and the skirt from Modcloth.

2013 Fashion trends I can't wait to try!

I'm taking a slight break in my pixie cut writing to start doing some fashion blogging. I can't wait until this spring! Unfortunately I probably won't see many of these styles in Alaska but I am still so excited to try some of these things out!

1. High waisted shorts with tights

I absolutely love, love LOVE shorts and tights. They are pretty much my go-to look. I've been wearing them all my live though I was told they were uncool middle school. But alas people seem to be getting intrigued by them in the last couple of years!

See! Zooey and Ashley agree with me!

It can make for such a practical fun look and leaves such potential for funky looks! For me, I think they look best with, or large sweaters and scarves with a really great pair of books for a chilly day look. Or in bright color blocks for a fresh look. Or some sweat pattered tights, ballet flats  with plain shorts and a sweet blouse with a peter pan color. OH! I could go on all day :D There are endless possibilities!

2. Galaxy pattern.

I love the look of these patterns. Its completely unique. It's fun, classy and if styled right can look completely awe inspiring. The galaxy trend comes in almost everything such as skirts, shirts, sweaters, jewelry, jumpsuits and pants, but my favorite definitely are galaxy nails, blazers, leggings and shoes. I think I like leggings the best because I like them with over sized shirts to give a casual skater vibe.

I can't wait to get a pair of these!

3. Vertical stripe pants/leggings

Monochromatic is iiiiiin! I just bought a pair of these and I can't get enough of them.

C'est Moi

They provide such a bold, mod look and can look super flattering on the legs. Again, they can be a little tricky for pairing without coming off like a jester (unless you like the jester look-because I do too!) but with the right styling they can look great! Be very cautious when trying to style them with other patterns. I would suggest keeping everything else simple and using clean eye makeup with a deep lip color.  Be very, very careful trying to pair these with other patterns. For me I usually pair it with a flowing white blouse or a large colorful sweater.

Also in shorts!

5. Simplistic over sized blouses.

These aren't really new, but for this upcoming season everyone should have a couple of these. Having great well fitting, understated basics can be a life saver and lately fashion trends are demanding for simplicity in plain dresses and shirts and patterns everywhere else.

Most of my blouses come from Forever21. I find them cute and affordable!

Which trends are looking forward to this season?
